Becoming a Habitat Partner Family is an exciting journey built on transparency, teamwork, and hope.
Here’s how the process works from start to finish:
Step 1: Submit Your Pre-Screen Form
Complete the online Pre-Screen Form and sign the E-Sign Act and Disclosure
Step 2: Pre-Screen Eligibility
Your application will be reviewed for initial eligibility against our program requirements.
If your application meets the basic requirements, it will be forwarded to our Family Selection & Support Committee.
Step 3: Complete the Partner Family Application
You’ll then be invited to complete the Partner Family Application, which will request information relevant to your financial and credit history.
Please return it promptly to keep your process moving forward.
Step 4: In-Home Visit
A Family Selection & Support committee member will reach out to schedule an in-home visit.
This allows us to learn more about your living situation and your family’s housing needs.
Step 5: Detailed Review & Follow-Up
The Family Selection & Support Committee conducts a thorough review of your application, which may include:
- Personal interviews
- Reference checks
- Additional in-home visits
- Background and credit checks
- Partnership overview
It’s normal to be asked for extra information during this stage — this helps ensure we fully understand your family’s needs and readiness.
Step 6: Committee Recommendation
Once the review is complete, the committee will recommend your family to the Habitat Board of Directors for final approval.
Step 7: Board Approval — Congratulations!
If approved by the Board, you’ll officially become a Habitat Partner Family. Executive director will make out reach and walk the new partner family through the homeownership process.
This marks the start of your journey toward building your home and your future with Habitat.
A Note from Habitat
Please be patient with the process. Every step is designed to ensure homeownership becomes a blessing, not a burden.
